Dictate Instagram and YouTube Captions in Indian Languages

· creators, Instagram, YouTube, captions, regional content

Regional-language content is where audience growth is happening in India, but writing captions in Devanagari or Tamil script on a phone is slow enough that many creators default to English and lose reach. Dictation removes that friction.

Captions

Speak the caption as you would say it in a Reel. Regional-language captions written this way sound like speech rather than translation, which is exactly the register that performs on Instagram. Run cleanup for punctuation, then paste.

Hooks

Dictate ten variations of an opening line in ninety seconds and pick the strongest. Volume beats deliberation for hooks — you cannot reliably predict which one lands, so generate more of them.

YouTube descriptions and chapters

Speak a summary of the video, format as a Paragraph, then dictate the chapter list and format as a List. Descriptions in the same language as the video help discovery, and most creators skip them because typing them is tedious.

Scripts

A script that was spoken before it was written sounds natural on camera. Dictate the whole script, format as Notes to get section headings, and read from that instead of writing prose you then have to un-write while performing.

Community posts and replies

Replying to comments in the viewer's language builds loyalty faster than anything else a small channel can do. Dictate replies in batches.

Practical notes for creators

  • Add your channel name, recurring segment names and collaborator handles to Saved Words
  • Dictate hashtags separately — spoken hashtags transcribe unpredictably; keep a saved block and paste it
  • Emoji cannot be dictated; add them at the end
  • For bilingual captions, dictate each language separately and stack them with a line break

Which language

Write in the language your comments are in, not the one your analytics dashboard is in. If your audience is in Maharashtra, Marathi captions outperform English ones. Same for Bengali, Telugu and Punjabi.
