Legal practice in India is writing-heavy and time-poor. Advocates draft in English while taking instructions in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali or Tamil, and the translation step happens in the lawyer's head at the keyboard. Dictation shortens the distance between instruction and draft.
Attendance and conference notes
Dictate immediately after a client conference, while detail is fresh. Format as Notes and you have a dated, structured record: facts asserted, documents produced, advice given, next steps. This is the highest-value use because these notes are usually written late or not at all.
First drafts of briefs and opinions
Speak the argument in the order you would make it orally — facts, issue, law, application, conclusion — then format as an Essay. The draft that comes back is a scaffold to edit, not a filing. Every citation must be checked against the actual authority; never rely on an AI-produced case reference.
Vernacular statements

Correspondence
Letters to opposing counsel, clients and courts follow fixed forms. Dictate the substance, apply a Formal tone, and edit. This alone removes a substantial share of daily typing.
Confidentiality — read this part
- Do not dictate privileged material where it can be overheard
- Audio is processed to produce the transcript and not retained; transcripts you save remain your responsibility to handle under your professional obligations
- Apply the same care you would to using any cloud drafting tool, including your firm's or bar council's guidance on client data
- For highly sensitive matters, dictate anonymised facts and insert names manually
Accuracy discipline
A transcript is a draft. Section numbers, dates, amounts, party names and citations must be verified by a human every time. Add party names and recurring statutes to Saved Words to reduce the number of corrections.
Realistic time saving
Most advocates report the biggest gain in notes and correspondence rather than in substantive drafting — the work that was being deferred to evenings now gets done between matters.
