How to Write Meeting Minutes Faster (Indian Teams)
· meetings, minutes, workplace, India
Minutes usually get written hours later, from memory, by the most junior person present. The result is late, vague and occasionally wrong. Here is a faster workflow that produces better minutes.
The ten-minute workflow
- Record the meeting. Start it in Meeting Mode and forget about it.
- Let it transcribe. Long recordings are split automatically, so you do not babysit it.
- Read the generated summary once. Fix names, products and acronyms the model heard wrong.
- Check the action items. Each needs a task, an owner and a date. Fill in what was implied but unsaid.
- Export and circulate. Word or Markdown into email; plain text into WhatsApp.
What belongs in minutes
Decisions, owners, deadlines, and anything a person who missed the meeting must know. Not the discussion path, not who said what, not the jokes. Short minutes get read.
Hinglish meetings
Minutes are usually circulated in English even when the meeting ran in Hindi. Two options: edit the English terms already present in the transcript into full sentences, or dictate a ninety-second English summary from memory afterwards. The second is faster and reads better.
Recurring meetings
Keep a single running document per recurring meeting and append each week's decisions and open action items at the top. Carrying forward unfinished items is what makes minutes useful rather than ceremonial.
Consent and storage
Tell participants a recording is being made. Store minutes where the whole team can find them, and delete recordings you no longer need — see our Privacy policy for how audio is handled.
